Who you are… straight, transgender, bisexual, lesbian, gay, queer, genderqueer, questioning… is an essential part of our work together. I welcome your whole self, supporting traditional and non-traditional families: blended, multiracial, multigenerational, foster, poly, leather, and members of kink communities. Therapy promotes healing, growth, and change. We'll focus together to understand your thoughts and behaviors. Our work together will help you develop new coping skills. Growth happens by reinforcing your strengths and values, increasing your self-awareness, and help you build a tolerance for distress and ambiguity.
The last few years have been extraordinary. The global pandemic has changed every aspect of our lives. The political climate has attacked the rights of women, transgender folx and systematically marginalized people of color. I have extensive experience working with the impacts of COVID-19 on the medical, social, and vocational changes as they affect our 'new normal.' We can walk together as the nation examines the impact of institutional racism and all forms of social injustice.
I am a skilled clinician with over 25 years of experience. I have specialized training in sex therapy, community mental health, adult and pediatric medical needs, hospice care, substance, sex, gambling, and debting addictions, obsessive-compulsive disorders, hoarding, domestic violence, and surviving sexual, emotional, physical, and spiritual abuse.
I completed a Masters in Social Work from Loyola University/Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Theology at Concordia University/River Forest. In 1997 I was trained as a sex therapist by Domeena Renshaw, MD. This therapy treats a wide range of issues: sexual intimacy problems, low sex drive, or differing sex drives in relationships, BDSM/kink, polyamorous or non-monogamous relationships, sexual complexities related to chronic illnesses, including cancer, HIV/AIDS, depression, and others.
